International Summer University Kassel Germany

The course focuses on the main issues of combating climate change and introducing the techniques of using energies from renewable resources, which are naturally replenished, such as sunlight, wind and geothermal heat. The summer school also offers a seminar that explores the methods and recent developments in the multidisciplinary field of earthquake engineering. All seminars will be taught by faculty members from the respective disciplines of the University of Kassel and Fraunhofer research institutes.

Every year participants from around the world join our seminar classes investigating the Brothers Grimm, who have lived in Kassel for a long and important time, tracing them in the place where they collected the world-famous fairy tales, Kassel, and discovering the international aspect of these regionally collected fairy tales.

The German History and Politics Summer School is a part of the International Summer University at Kassel that offers a short course designed for international students and graduates who are interested to track how German identity developed and changed from 1871 to present and to get insight into the implication of cultural and historical events in German history. The seminar also includes a day trip to the former medieval monastery and later Nazi concentration camp in Breitenau.

This program is specially dedicated to students and graduates who would like to learn to recognize, understand and cope with cultural differences in communication. Every year about 20 participants from around the world with different cultural backgrounds join this class creating an environment that encourages learning about another culture through class activities, discussions, simulations and role plays.

The program by the documenta Institut offers insight into the history and theory of the documenta exhibition of Contemporary Art, as well as into curating. We will visit the documenta Archive, art galleries and museums hosting documenta in Kassel.

In cooperation with the Ca' Foscari University of Venice. The Summer School in Contemporary Art and Curatorship offers students the chance to gain insight into the management principles of two of the world's most important and influential contemporary art exhibitions the Kassel documenta and La Biennale di Venezia by bringing together the expertise of scholars, artists and curators based in the hosting cities Kassel (Germany), and Venice (Italy).
